- Partner with Amy the Amygdala to help clients relate to survival responses with compassion and curiosity instead of shame or self-blame.
- Guide clients through the Amygdala's Core Values Check-In to identify which core value is being protected in the moment: safety, lovability and belonging, or agency.
- Use the iCASE Check-In to track present-moment experience across five domains: interoception, cognitions, autonomic nervous system, somatosensory experience, and emotions.
- Run the CASE for Survival Assessment to map how a mild stressor activates a client's cognitive, autonomic, somatosensory, and emotional systems in real time.
- Apply CPR for the Amygdala as a foundational regulation protocol for interrupting survival activation and restoring cognitive flexibility in session.
- Use the Emotions Thermometer to help clients name emotional activation and nervous system intensity as they move through the session.
- Integrate the Interoceptive NeuroEmpowerment Scale (INES) to measure how internally available an adaptive state feels to your client, and use that data to guide pacing.
- Teach the Sigh Breath and Mindful Touch practice to cue safety and support autonomic settling through breath and self-applied touch.
- Choose from four types of Mindful Touch including butterfly tapping and other adaptations for clients where gentle touch is not accessible or appropriate.
- Build a Client-Centered Cognitive Distraction Inventory of working-memory interventions that interrupt rumination, threat searching, and trauma or grief loops by giving the brain a new intentional task.
- Guide Resilient Target Identification to help clients select an adaptive emotional or energetic state their nervous system can begin to access.
- Run the GROW Practice to deepen and anchor a client's chosen Resilient Target through repeated, targeted experience.
- Deliver the Creating Possibilities Protocol a structured neuroplasticity-based intervention for strengthening adaptive state ownership and expanding access to future possibility.
- Introduce the Resilient Brain Program as an ongoing resource for nervous system care and self-directed regulation between sessions.

Dr. Kate Truitt
PhD, MA, MBA
Dr. Kate Truitt is a clinical psychologist, applied neuroscientist, and international educator whose work sits where rigorous research meets real nervous systems, especially the ones shaped by trauma, chronic stress, grief, and long seasons of survival. For more than two decades, she has focused on translating complex brain and body science into ethically grounded, evidence-based strategies clinicians can actually use in the room.
She is the creator of the NeuroTriad Model and Brain Partnership, integrative frameworks that draw from affective neuroscience, psychophysiology, interoception, and experience-dependent neuroplasticity. Her work examines how threat exposure reshapes the circuits involved in detection, regulation, executive function, and relational safety, and, just as importantly, how those systems can reorganize through repeated, targeted experiences that rebuild agency and capacity over time.
Dr. Truitt founded the Truitt Institute to shorten the distance between neuroscience and care. She leads the award-winning clinical team at Dr. Kate Truitt & Associates and, through her leadership of the Amy Research Foundation and the Trauma Counseling Center of Los Angeles, advances research, training, and accessible support for trauma-exposed communities. This is not an EMDR training. No prerequisites required.
