Systemic racism has created real barriers to education and certification in this field. Our scholarship program helps remove the financial ones, funding EMDR training for clinicians ready to bring these skills to the communities that need them most.

Why This Fund Exists
Systemic racism has created real barriers to education and certification for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We can't undo that history, but we can do something about it in our own corner of the field. Our BIPOC Scholarship Fund is how we put that commitment into practice.
Since 2020, the fund has awarded partial scholarships toward EMDR Basic Training, EMDR Certification, and EMDR Consultant Training. Awards are granted every quarter to U.S.-based BIPOC clinicians who demonstrate financial need and a genuine commitment to bringing these skills to the communities that need them most.
This is not a one-time gesture. It is an ongoing investment in a more equitable field, one clinician at a time.

Eligibility
Who Qualifies
You may be eligible for a scholarship if you:
- Reside in the United States
- Identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color who has been impacted by systemic racism
- Can demonstrate financial need
- Have a genuine passion for putting these skills to work in your community

We offer scholarships toward three EMDR programs. Choose the one that matches where you are in your training, and apply below.
EMDR Basic Training

Prerequisite: completion of an EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training.
EMDR Consultant Training
$2,000
Per Scholarship
- Partial scholarship toward tuition
- 1 scholarship awarded each quarter
Prerequisites: completion of EMDR Basic Training and EMDR Certification through an EMDRIA-approved provider. Awards are provisional, pending an interview and program acceptance.
The Details
How the Scholarship Works
When are scholarships awarded?
Awards are granted every quarter. Decisions are communicated by the 20th of January, April, July, and October. Applications are reviewed at the start of each quarter, and you apply one quarter ahead of when you hope to be awarded. For example, apply between January and March to be considered for an award in the following quarter.
How long do I have to use my scholarship?
Scholarships must be used within one year of being awarded. If you are unable to attend training within that year, the scholarship is forfeited.
Who is eligible?
This scholarship supports anti-racism efforts within the United States, so eligibility is limited to U.S.-based BIPOC clinicians. Applicants who are not BIPOC or who are not based in the U.S. will not be considered.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. You may apply as many times as you like. You can receive one scholarship in your lifetime. Incomplete applications are not reviewed, so be sure every field is filled in before you submit.
Is anything different for Consultant Training?
Consultant Training scholarships are provisional. Final approval requires completing an interview and being accepted into the program.
