Advanced EMDR Interventions for CPTSD
Treatment Planning, Target Sequencing, and Constricted Processing
Some clients walk in with a symptom list that reads like an entire caseload. Flashbacks. Nightmares. Chronic shame. Dissociation. Relationships that keep rupturing. You finish the intake, look at your notes, and think: where do I even start?
If you are EMDR trained, you may also be carrying a quieter worry. What if reprocessing destabilizes this client? What if one target lights up an entire memory network? So you stay in preparation. And stay. And stay. Meanwhile, your client keeps spending everything they have just to get through the week.
This 4-hour advanced training with Rebecca Kase, LCSW was built for exactly that clinical moment. It assumes you know your EMDR foundations, skips the extended theory, and gets straight to the how: how to decide where to start, how to build a treatment plan around the symptoms costing your client the most, and how to use constricted processing to bring real relief without overwhelming the system.

Expert Clinical Training
Where Learning Meets Community
Practical Skills
Practical Interventions You'll Learn
- Differentiate the core symptom domains of ICD-11 Complex PTSD from PTSD, and recognize how disturbances in self-organization add clinical complexity and shape treatment planning
- Evaluate preparation, stabilization, and readiness for trauma-focused treatment, so you can make grounded decisions instead of staying parked in Phase 2 out of fear
- Develop an individualized EMDR treatment plan built around presenting symptoms, client capacity, treatment priorities, and real opportunities for reprocessing
- Apply adaptations to EMDR reprocessing that account for symptom presentation, dissociation, and the risk of overwhelming clients with CPTSD
- Run Phase 8 reevaluation to read the results of your work and guide ongoing treatment decisions

About Your Trainer
Rebecca Kase
MSW, LCSW, RYT
Rebecca Kase, LCSW is an EMDR consultant and trainer, and the CEO and owner of the Trauma Therapist Institute. She is the author of multiple books on polyvagal theory and EMDR and the creator of the Preparation Hierarchy, a framework for assessing readiness and guiding preparation work with complex trauma.
Rebecca is known for translating neuroscience into language clinicians can actually use in session, and for teaching in a direct, shame-free style grounded in decades of clinical work, including years in community mental health treating clients with the most complex presentations. She built this training around the question she hears most from EMDR therapists: what do I actually do with this client?
