Joel Kouame
LCSW, MBA, CAMS-II
Joel’s work focuses on helping individuals and couples recognize that anger is not the enemy - it is a guardian that protects our unmet needs. By connecting with the underlying need behind anger, we can better understand where our hurts, loves, and passions reside. This awareness creates space for healthier communication, stronger boundaries, and deeper healing.
Outside of clinical practice, Joel serves as a social science professor, teaching a wide range of courses on human behavior and social justice. He is also the founder and writer of The Shworker, a newsletter that examines social issues through a clinical lens.
