Temporarily on Pause Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Fund for BIPOC Clinicians

Working toward equity in trauma training for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

Systemic racism has created real barriers to education and professional certification for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). To help close that gap, we have offered EMDR scholarships to BIPOC mental health professionals across the United States. While the fund is paused for now, our commitment to equity in mental health care has not changed.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, our BIPOC Scholarship Fund is temporarily on pause. We remain committed to inclusivity and to creating shame-free learning spaces where mental health professionals feel seen, safe, and supported. We hope to offer this scholarship opportunity again in the future. Subscribe to our mailing list and follow us on social media to stay informed about available opportunities.

Our Commitment

Why This Fund Exists

We can’t undo the history of systemic racism, but we can do something about it in our own corner of the field. Our BIPOC Scholarship Fund has been one of the ways we put that commitment into practice. Since 2020, the fund has awarded partial scholarships toward EMDR Basic Training, EMDR Certification, and EMDR Consultant Training.

Each quarter, awards went to U.S.-based BIPOC clinicians who showed financial need and a genuine commitment to bringing these skills to the communities that need them most. Pausing the fund does not change why it exists. We hope to reopen applications in the future, and our waitlist will be the first to hear when we do.

The Details

How the Scholarship Works

When are scholarships awarded?

Our BIPOC Scholarship Fund is temporarily on pause, but you can still apply. New applications are added to our waitlist and will be reviewed in the order they were received once the scholarship reopens. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee an award.

When the fund is active, awards are granted every quarter. Decisions are communicated by the 20th of January, April, July, and October. Applications are reviewed at the start of each quarter, and you apply one quarter ahead of when you hope to be awarded. For example, apply between January and March to be considered for an award in the following quarter.

How long do I have to use my scholarship?
Scholarships must be used within one year of being awarded. If you are unable to attend training within that year, the scholarship is forfeited.
Who is eligible?
This scholarship supports anti-racism efforts within the United States, so eligibility is limited to U.S.-based BIPOC clinicians. Applicants who are not BIPOC or who are not based in the U.S. will not be considered.
Can I apply more than once?
Yes. Once applications reopen, you may apply as many times as you like. You can receive one scholarship in your lifetime. Incomplete applications are not reviewed, so be sure every field is filled in before you submit.
Is anything different for Consultant Training?
Consultant Training scholarships are provisional. Final approval requires completing an interview and being accepted into the program.
