Understand which CEs you need, which boards TTI is approved with, and how our courses map to your EMDRIA, licensure, and certification requirements.
Between licensure renewals, EMDRIA certification requirements, and the alphabet soup of approval boards, figuring out which continuing education credits actually count for what can feel like a full-time job. And when you are already managing a caseload, the last thing you need is to discover halfway through a training that it does not count toward the credential you are working on.
This guide is designed to cut through the confusion. Below you will find a clear breakdown of who TTI is accredited with, which of our courses count toward which requirements, and how to plan your continuing education strategically so every training you take moves you closer to your professional goals.

Trauma Therapist Institute is approved as a continuing education provider by four major accrediting bodies. Here is what each one means for you:
TTI is an EMDRIA-approved training provider. Our EMDR Basic Training meets EMDRIA's standards for curriculum, practicum, and consultation. Our EMDR-focused advanced training courses are individually approved and offer EMDRIA credits that count toward certification and renewal. EMDRIA credits are specific to EMDR content and are required for certification (12 credits to certify, 12 every two years to maintain).
TTI (Provider #1869) is approved through the ACE program administered by the Association of Social Work Boards. This means our courses are accepted for social work continuing education in most U.S. states. Approval period: 1/16/25 through 1/16/28. Social workers completing TTI courses receive clinical continuing education credits.
TTI is an NBCC-approved provider (ACEP No. 7033). Our courses are accepted for NBCC credit, recognized by most state counseling boards for licensure renewal. NBCC approval covers LPCs, LMHCs, and related counseling credentials.
TTI is approved by the APA to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. APA CEs are available for select courses, including EMDR Basic Training, certain EMDR-focused advanced trainings, and some trauma training courses. Not all courses offer APA CEs. Check individual course pages.
Not all continuing education credits are interchangeable. Here is how the different types map to your professional goals:
You need 12 hours of EMDRIA credits from approved advanced training courses, completed after basic training. Basic training hours do not count. TTI's EMDR advanced courses and practitioner programs provide these credits.
12 hours of EMDRIA credits every two years. Same course types as initial certification. EMDRIA conducts random audits, so keep certificates organized.
Requirements vary by state and license type. Most states accept ACE/ASWB credits (social workers), NBCC credits (counselors), and APA credits (psychologists). TTI's CE certificates clearly identify the approving body and credit hours. Always verify your specific state board's requirements.
Any TTI course builds your clinical skills whether or not it counts toward a specific credential. Our trauma training courses are valuable for all clinicians working with trauma, regardless of EMDR status.
Check individual course pages for exact CE counts. "Varies" means the count differs by specific course within that category.

Last reviewed 1 August, 2026.Make every course count toward multiple goals simultaneously:
You need 12 EMDRIA credits. Choose TTI courses that also offer ACE or NBCC credits, and you satisfy your state licensure renewal at the same time. TTI's EMDR Advanced Trainings and practitioner programs are the most efficient path: they count toward EMDRIA certification, licensure CEs, and clinical skill development simultaneously.
12 EMDRIA credits every two years. If you are also deepening a specialization (IFS, polyvagal, somatic), you earn renewal credits while building a new clinical niche.
TTI's full catalog carries CEs for licensure renewal, with the approving boards listed on each course page. You do not need to be EMDR-trained to take trauma training courses. Pick based on clinical interest and state board requirements.
