Clinical Conversations

Collective Dysregulation: Practicing Trauma Therapy in Chaotic Times with Lisa Hayes

Live: Wednesday August 20th from 12 pm - 1 pm MTN Denver

Therapists aren’t immune to the chaos. The same systems, crises, and global stressors that impact our clients are also shaping our own nervous systems—and the therapy room. In this Clinical Conversation, Lisa Hayes invites us to name and explore what it means to do trauma work amid collective dysregulation.

Together, we’ll look at how societal upheaval, burnout, and vicarious trauma show up in clinical practice. Lisa offers a grounded, honest lens on how therapists can stay regulated enough to hold space, even when the world feels anything but.

This isn’t about pushing through. It’s about resourcing ourselves and each other—so we can keep doing the work with clarity, integrity, and care.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER, LISA HAYES

I am a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, with a master’s degree in Social Work and undergraduate degrees in Sociology and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies.

Throughout my career I have had the enormous privilege of working with clients and their families in a variety of inpatient and outpatient  settings. My clinical experiences include work with complex trauma/PTSD, residential alcohol and drug treatment, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, life transitions, racial and ethnic specific trauma and identity issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, depression, college counseling, dissociation, anxiety, sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. My clinical practice has primarily focused on the treatment of adolescents and adults. In addition to EMDR therapy, I use a variety of expressive, humanistic and experiential therapeutic interventions all aimed at identifying and celebrating the strengths of each person.

It is my honor to create space for healing, liberation and growth. I believe that we are all entitled to experiences of joy, satisfaction, peace and balance. If you would like to learn more about any of the services I provide, please reach out.
